Our Story

Rickie & Kitty both come from generations of farmers from the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island (the United States) from North Carolina and our ancestors from the west coast of Africa. For us, farming is more than a business. It is a connection to family, land, tradition and the knowledge passed from one generation to the next.

At RIBICKIE Farms, each member of our family brings their own gifts to the farm. Kitty manages our gourmet mushrooms and herbs, while Rickie cares for our chickens, turkeys, ducks, quail and bees, as well as bringing his woodworking skills to the farm. Our daughter Aryana helps keep everything moving through day-to-day scheduling, management, organization and paperwork.

The name RIBICKIE itself tells part of our story—a blending of Rickie Boone and Kitty, much like the blending of our love for one another and the life we have built together.

Farming is more than what we do—it’s in our blood, rooted in the ancestral gifts passed down through generations.

Gourmet Mushrooms — Grown Here at RIBICKIE Farms


At RIBICKIE Farms, our gourmet mushrooms are grown with care from start to finish. From preparing our own growing substrate to colonization and fruiting, Kitty tends to each stage of the process right here on our farm. 

We grow multiple varieties including Lion’s Mane, Blue Oyster, Pink Oyster, King Oyster, seasonal Pioppino, Beech, Reishi, Shiitake and Cordyceps—bringing fresh, locally grown goodness from our farm to your table.


Life on the Farm


Rickie is the heart of daily life with our farm animals. He cares for our chickens, turkeys, ducks, quail and bees, making sure they are tended to and cared for throughout the seasons. 

His talents also extend beyond the barnyard through his woodworking, where he brings the same patience, skill and hands-on care that he brings to the farm. 

His work is an important part of the everyday rhythm of life here at RIBICKIE Farms.
